The art of crochet
The Midiye clutches are made in Turkey, by hand, by women artisans from villages near the Black Sea. A single piece takes between three and five days of work. Nothing is industrialised: the shape, the size and the tension of the stitch vary slightly from one bag to the next, and that is exactly where the value lies.
The 1.10 metre strap is made of gold-plated brass, a clean contrast between the softness of the yarn and the shine of the metal. Each bag comes with its protective pouch. Carried by day over a flowing dress, by night over a dark suit, the Midiye moves through the hours without ever changing register.
