That is the signature of a Paris house that has never chased a trend, preferring a quiet joy, faintly nostalgic and always chic.
This season the exclusive « L'Océan des Mirages » print arrives at Le Shop 17, on ramie made in France. A summer wardrobe cut for the light of Cannes.
Paris, 1995: two first names became a house
Paul & Joe was born in Paris in 1995, driven by Sophie Mechaly. The name of the house? That of her two sons, Paul and Joe. An intimate origin that already says a great deal about the spirit of the brand: something personal, warm and entirely unstuffy.
Sophie Mechaly grew up surrounded by clothes. At nineteen she trained alongside couturier Azzedine Alaïa, then worked for the family company, Le Garage, known in the 1980s for its printed shirts. Print would remain the happy obsession of her whole career.
From her atelier on rue Commines, in the Marais, the house has built an instantly recognisable vocabulary: the play between masculine and feminine, the dress worn like a shirt, the softened tailored jacket, the hand-stitched finishes on blazers and coats. The majority of the pieces are made in France.
The house has spread well beyond clothing, with eyewear, beauty, tableware and the PJ Night line. Since winter 2022, Adrien Albou, the founder's son, has been artistic director of menswear. Thirty years after its beginnings, Paul & Joe remains a family affair.

Le Shop 17 is waiting for you at 15 rue Notre-Dame, 06400 Cannes, a few minutes from the Croisette and at the foot of Le Suquet. The perfect place to try on a ramie shirt or a shirt dress at your own pace before lunch by the sea. We are open Monday to Saturday, 10am to 7pm, with styling advice across the whole Paul & Joe collection.
