Philosophy was born as the younger line of Alberta Ferretti, the Italian designer who launched her business in 1972 and whose house is today one of the pillars of the Aeffe group, alongside Moschino and Pollini. That lineage explains a great deal: the taste for fabric that falls just right, a carefully worked lightness, that very Italian idea that elegance never needs to shout to be heard.
In 2014, the line handed its creative direction to Lorenzo Serafini. Born in Riccione in 1973 and trained in fashion design at the Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti in Milan, he arrived with a dense track record: womenswear at Roberto Cavalli, then D&G and Dolce & Gabbana. His first collection was presented in February 2015 during Milan Fashion Week, and the line took on the name we know today: Philosophy di Lorenzo Serafini.
Since then, the vocabulary has been crystal clear. A fresh, romantic and modern femininity, in the house's own words, carried by a personal concept of elegance that holds heritage and innovation in balance. You find it in the crystal-strewn knits, the fluid silhouettes, the spectacular sleeves, the fringing that follows every movement. Italian romance rewritten for a generation that refuses to choose between day and night. In October 2024, Lorenzo Serafini was named creative director of Alberta Ferretti, elegantly closing the loop with the house that first welcomed him.
