Stéphane Rolland

Some names are enough to summon the very idea of Parisian haute couture. Stéphane Rolland is one of them.

Born on 26 July 1966, he joined the Chambre syndicale de la couture parisienne as early as 1982. His rise was meteoric: artistic director of the menswear line at Balenciaga at just 21, in 1986, then a decade at Jean-Louis Scherrer from 1995.

In July 2007, he founded his own house on avenue George V in Paris. The haute couture designation was officially granted to him in December 2008, and his first haute couture collection was unveiled in early 2009, as a tribute to designer Andrée Putman.

His openly claimed influences, Balenciaga, Oscar Niemeyer, Constantin Brancusi, run through his signature vocabulary: sculptural lines, architectural draping, cutaways that seem to defy gravity. A couture that dresses runways and red carpets alike: Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Beyoncé, Queen Rania of Jordan and Joan Collins have all worn his creations.

And Cannes is no foreign territory for the couturier: Stéphane Rolland was an official partner of the Cannes Film Festival for five years, a strong tie to the Croisette that Shop 17 is delighted to carry on in store. In 2026, the house continues to write its story with two landmark collections: « Parade », inspired by the world of the circus, presented on 28 January, and a tribute to Dalida unveiled on 7 July at the Olympia through 33 silhouettes.

Shop 17 is proud to welcome a selection of his most spectacular pieces: evening gowns and couture pieces designed for women who never settle for a garment, but choose a silhouette. This new collection settles in Cannes, steps from the Croisette, in the spirit that has always been Shop 17's signature: a sharp selection, never a catalogue.

The collection to discover at Shop 17

Six pieces, six different ways to embody evening elegance. Satin crepe, Georgette crepe, draped jersey, crystal embroidery: each evening gown is a couture piece in its own right, cut for grand occasions and gala evenings on the French Riviera.

A couture piece is meant to be tried on

Every evening gown in this selection is a couture piece, with everything that implies: hand-embroidered crystal, precise draping, noble fabrics. For these pieces, Shop 17 favours a private fitting in store over an online purchase, taking the time to choose the right size, adjust the fall of the fabric, and live with the piece before wearing it.
