Cannes, filming 2026
The White Lotus checks in at the Martinez
After Hawaii, Sicily and Thailand, the cult HBO series has chosen Cannes for its fourth season. And not just any address: the legendary Hôtel Martinez on the Croisette becomes, for the story, the White Lotus Cannes.
On the agenda: one week of the Cannes Film Festival, ultra-wealthy guests, a staff under pressure, and that blend of satire and suspense that made Mike White's show a hit.
Evening gowns, red carpet steps, dinners by the sea: a dream playground for fashion. Here is everything you need to know, along with the dresses that deserve their place on the red carpet.
A season at the heart of the Cannes Film Festival
It has been official since HBO's announcement on April 15, 2026: Season 4 follows a new group of hotel guests and employees over one week of the Cannes Film Festival. Filming began in April on the French Riviera, across Cannes, Saint-Tropez and Monaco, with a few scenes in Paris, and is set to continue into the autumn.
Two palace hotels take the lead roles: the Château de la Messardière in Saint-Tropez becomes the White Lotus du Cap, and the Martinez becomes the White Lotus Cannes. The Palais des Festivals and its red carpet also serve as a backdrop, recreated after the real Festival for the needs of the story.
As for timing, HBO is announcing a release in the first half of 2027. Until then, Cannes lives to the rhythm of the cameras: the production alone generates more than 17,000 hotel nights in town this autumn.
The Martinez, an Art Deco palace turned TV set
Opened in 1929, the Martinez is one of the great palace hotels of the Croisette, famous for its white facade, its illuminated lettering and its Art Deco staircase. During the Festival, it hosts a large share of the stars and film crews every year. It is hard to imagine a better setting for a series that dissects the ultra-rich on holiday.
For the first time, The White Lotus also leaves behind the Four Seasons hotels of previous seasons. Choosing the Martinez anchors the series in the real Cannes: Festival parties, private beaches and dinners where you change outfits three times a day.

The French cast
For his Riviera season, Mike White has recruited four faces of French cinema. Vincent Cassel leads the delegation, alongside Nadia Tereszkiewicz, winner of the César for Most Promising Actress for Les Amandiers, and Corentin Fila, who rose to fame in André Téchiné's Being 17. Laura Smet completes the French line-up.
True to form, HBO is keeping the characters under wraps: no role has been officially revealed so far. One certainty: the story brings together hotel guests and staff, which promises a few very Cannes-style showdowns.
The international cast
Topping the bill is Oscar winner Laura Dern, joined by Chris Messina, Steve Coogan, Kumail Nanjiani and the legendary Ben Kingsley. Heather Graham, Rosie Perez, Sandra Bernhard, Max Greenfield, Ari Graynor, Chloe Bennet and AJ Michalka round out this gallery of guests as brilliant as they are dysfunctional.
Also on board are Alexander Ludwig (Vikings), Swedish actress Frida Gustavsson, Max Minghella, Ben Schnetzer, Pekka Strang, as well as Dylan Ennis, Caleb Jonte Edwards, Charlie Hall, Marissa Long and Jarrad Paul. An XXL cast, worthy of the Cannes Film Festival.
