The story begins in 2010, in New York. Veronica Miele Beard and Veronica Swanson Beard share the same first name and the same surname: sisters-in-law married to two brothers, they met at a wedding. One came from finance, the other from fashion. They shared the same observation, that of a women's professional wardrobe that was too rigid, too safe, never quite right.
Their answer lies in a jacket. The Dickey Jacket is a sharply tailored blazer fitted with a removable dickey that zips inside and instantly transforms the silhouette. The idea is borrowed from the detachable shirtfronts of the nineteenth century, brought up to date for a woman moving from one appointment to the next. Veronica Miele Beard likes to describe it as a Wonder Woman cape: you slip it on, you change register, you are off again.
Around this founding piece a complete wardrobe has been built: ready-to-wear, denim, shoes, leather goods. The house opened its flagship store on Madison Avenue and today counts dozens of boutiques around the world. The philosophy has not shifted an inch: designing a uniform of desirable classics, as versatile as a woman's day. Look good, feel good, and do what you love.
