Monaco Grand Prix: what to wear
Every year in June, the roar of engines transforms the Principality for a weekend: crowded paddocks, yachts moored along Port Hercule, packed terraces and gala evenings that stretch on by the sea. Traditionally held in early June, the Monaco F1 Grand Prix brings together two worlds with neither the same pace nor the same dress code: the day's and the evening's.
Just 30 minutes' drive from Monaco, Le Shop 17 helps the event's regulars put together their wardrobe every year, between sportswear-chic for the days and evening pieces for the galas.
Daytime: paddocks and yacht show
Between the paddock stands and the decks of yachts moored for the occasion, Grand Prix daytime calls for a balancing act: staying elegant without ever sacrificing comfort. The focus is on breathable fabrics, fluid cuts and accessories that structure the silhouette without weighing it down. Wide-brimmed hats and sunglasses are not mere accessories: they are essential protection under the June sun, worn as style pieces in their own right.
Evening: galas and gala dinners
As soon as night falls, the Grand Prix changes register. Private dinners, charity galas and evenings aboard the yachts call for evening wear, short or long depending on how formal the event is. For a cocktail or an informal dinner, a short sequined or ruffled dress is enough to mark the occasion. For a gala or a dressier evening, the long dress remains the safe choice, paired with an evening bag that catches the light.
Building your wardrobe for the weekend
A successful Grand Prix wardrobe depends less on the number of outfits than on their consistency: a base of sportswear-chic for the day, a hat and sunglasses as backup against the sun, then one or two evening pieces depending on how many galas are on the program. In June 2027, as every year, Monaco Grand Prix weekend will draw a clientele from across the Cote d'Azur and beyond. Le Shop 17, based in Cannes just 30 minutes' drive from Monaco, remains a natural stop to complete your suitcase before heading to the Principality.
