THE CANNES SHOPPING GUIDE
Cannes does not have a single shopping face, it has four. Rue d'Antibes for everyday shopping, the Croisette for international fashion houses, Le Suquet for craftsmanship and old-village charm, Rue Meynadier for the market and fine food shops.
This guide takes you through these neighborhoods to help you plan your shopping, wherever you are staying and whatever your budget.
Contents
Rue d'Antibes, the artery that keeps Cannes shopping alive all year round. The Croisette, the international showcase for luxury and grand hotels. Le Suquet, the old village and its craftsmanship. Rue Meynadier, the Forville market and fine food shops. One address to remember along the way: Le Shop 17.
Rue d'Antibes, the main shopping artery
This is the backbone of shopping in Cannes. Rue d'Antibes links the train station to the Palais des Festivals over nearly a kilometer, and brings together most of the city's fashion, shoe, and multi-brand concept store names. People come here on foot, wandering from one window to the next, for anything from a pair of sneakers to an evening gown.
It is a street that lives all year round, not just during the Festival: Cannes locals themselves shop for clothes here, which sets it apart from the Croisette, more geared toward visitors passing through and major international houses. Independent boutiques sit alongside better-known names, and it is precisely this variety that makes it the busiest artery in the city center.
It is in this neighborhood, just steps from Rue d'Antibes, that you will find Le Shop 17: an address designed to extend that stroll with a tightly curated selection of brands you will not find anywhere else in Cannes.
The Croisette, the showcase for international luxury
No conversation about shopping in Cannes is complete without the Croisette. This boulevard along the bay, between the Palais des Festivals and Port Canto, brings together boutiques from the world's biggest luxury houses: the storefronts of Chanel, Dior, Louis Vuitton, and Hermès stand alongside the city's iconic grand hotels, such as the Carlton, the Martinez, and the Majestic.
The Croisette is as much an experience as it is a shopping destination: it is a promenade with a view of the sea and the moored yachts, where luxury house windows set the pace of the walk just as much as the palm trees and hotel terraces. People come here for the setting as much as for the purchases, and it is this dual appeal that makes it Cannes's best-known image around the world.
Le Suquet, craftsmanship and old-village charm
At the opposite end from the Croisette, up on the hill, Le Suquet is the historic heart of Cannes. Its cobbled lanes, its steps, and the view over the bay from the Suquet tower make it a place for strolling as much as for shopping. It is home to a network of small artisan boutiques, ceramics workshops, art galleries, and independent shops that have nothing in common with the grand names by the sea.
This is slower, more inquisitive shopping: you step through a door because a window caught your eye, you chat with the artisan who made the piece, and you leave with something you will not find anywhere else. Le Suquet is also the neighborhood where you settle onto a terrace for a drink after the walk, as the old town comes alive at nightfall.
Rue Meynadier, the market and fine food shops
Between Rue d'Antibes and Le Suquet, Rue Meynadier is a more intimate pedestrian street, known for its food shops: cheesemongers, wine merchants, delicatessens, bakeries, and pastry shops line its entire length. It leads straight to the Forville market, Cannes's historic covered market, where local producers and stalls of flowers, fruit, and vegetables set up every morning.
This is the neighborhood to head to for a good bottle, local cheese, or a Provençal specialty, and to take the pulse of everyday Cannes, far from the glitz of the Croisette.
Le Shop 17, a concept store address at the heart of this walk
Amid this varied shopping landscape, Le Shop 17 holds a special place. Set at 15 rue Notre-Dame, just steps from Rue d'Antibes, it is a multi-brand concept store bringing together designers you will not find in the major chains: ready-to-wear, lingerie, bags, and accessories, chosen with a focused eye rather than a mass assortment.
It is a natural stop on a day of shopping in Cannes: after Rue d'Antibes, before heading up to Le Suquet or back down toward the Croisette, stop by Le Shop 17 to discover more exclusive pieces, tried on in the fitting room, with advice from a team that knows every brand in the boutique.
