From March 15 to 19, 2027, the Palais des Festivals in Cannes once again hosts MIPIM, the major international gathering for real estate professionals. Five days of meetings, stands, lunches, and networking evenings, often running back to back with no time to change. Faced with this marathon, the most common reflex is still the same gray suit worn from Monday to Friday. We believe you can be credible without being uniform, and that professional dressing has everything to gain from a little character.
The problem with the single gray suit
Wearing the same dark jacket five days running is not just a question of boredom. It is also a signal that fades: by the third day, no one can tell you apart from the mass of identical suits crossing paths between the stands and the terraces of the Palais. By contrast, a wardrobe built like a small collection of strong pieces, worn in rotation, helps you stay recognizable from one meeting to the next, without ever stepping outside the professional register expected at a trade show of this level.
The idea is not to sacrifice seriousness for style. It is rather to choose, each morning, one piece that carries the statement: a fabric that catches the light, a more architectural cut, a color that steps away from gray and navy without ever tipping into too much. The rest of the outfit stays understated, so that this one strong piece does all the work.
Building a week, not five separate outfits
Over five days of MIPIM, the best strategy is to start from a small base of neutral trousers and shirts, then vary a single signature piece each day: a textured blazer on Monday for the show's opening, a graphic-print shirt on Tuesday for an investor lunch, a colored blazer on Wednesday for meetings on the stand, a richer fabric on Thursday for a networking evening, and a structured bag that carries through the whole week without ever fading into the background. This capsule-wardrobe approach lets you travel light while giving the impression of a far more extensive wardrobe than you actually packed.
The blazer remains the centerpiece of this week. A structured tweed, a built-in shirt-front panel, or a well-cut double-breasted jacket immediately adds character, without ever compromising the professional legibility of the look. It is the piece that draws the eye in a meeting, the one that sets the tone before the first handshake.
Three guidelines for staying credible
1. One strong piece per outfit: blazer, shirt, or bag, never all three at once.
2. Colors that remain legible from a distance: a palette of neutrals, lifted by one confident shade.
3. Fabrics that last the day: wool, tweed, thick poplin rather than fabrics too fragile for a show spent on your feet.
Putting together your five days
- Opening of the show: double-breasted tweed blazer, straight neutral trousers, structured bag. A memorable entrance without eccentricity.
- Investor meetings: an embroidered shirt under a plain blazer, letting the fabric speak up close during one-on-one conversations.
- Day on the stand: the blazer with a built-in shirt-front panel simplifies getting dressed while keeping a structured look, ideal for a day spent standing.
- Confident color: the pink jacket in a straight cut, worn over a neutral base, for an outfit that gets noticed without ever looking too casual.
- Closing and networking evening: a printed ramie shirt, chino trousers, a reversible bag that changes face to carry you from day into evening.
