MERAKI
Mirror sequins, a sculpted waist, a train that sweeps the floor. Meraki Official makes evening pieces that never go unnoticed.
The Australian house works luxury fabrics and contrasting textures with a single idea in mind: not to hide the body, but to enhance the curve.
A selection of four evening pieces is now waiting for you at Le Shop 17, a few steps from the Croisette.
Meraki Official is an Australian evening ready-to-wear house whose headquarters and flagship store are based in Perth, Western Australia. It was founded by its owner and director Samantha Wyllie, and its creative direction is led by Alvin Fernandez, who brings twenty years of industry experience to the label.
The name comes from the Greek word meraki, which describes doing something with your soul, with love, leaving a part of yourself in it. The whole idea of the house sits inside that word: glamorous designs made to give confidence, celebrating femininity, uniqueness and vibrancy in the woman who wears them.
What you recognise at first glance in a Meraki piece is a signature seductive elegance, and the emphasis on powerful femininity running through every collection. The foundation of the wardrobe is luxury fabrics and textures that answer one another: sequin against tulle, neoprene against light, structure against movement.
Construction first
Meraki pieces read like architecture. Bodices are fully lined and boned, built on an underwire bra. The foundations, in neoprene, tulle or stretch mesh, mould the body rather than constrain it. Invisible zips disappear at the centre back, and the seams are placed exactly where they draw the silhouette.
The mirror sequin is the great subject of the house. Applied to a tulle foundation with a stretch quality, it follows the movement of the body and throws light back in whole panels. It is a fabric made for late dinners, weddings, festival evenings and the tables of the Croisette.
The Le Shop 17 selection
A selection of the latest pieces available in store, each chosen with the same care as the rest of the Shop 17 selection.
The mirror sequin corset and skirt can be worn together as a full evening suit, or separately: the corset over fluid black trousers, the skirt with a simple fine cashmere. It is the truest way to make these pieces live well beyond a single night.
